Take the pledge for better health

Pledge to make healthier lunches in one or more of the following ways.

Making a healthy change a few small steps at a time...


  • I will pack bag lunches for myself and/or my family on most days I/we eat out of the house.
  • I will include all four food groups in bag lunches.
  • I will include a whole grain choice in bag lunches.
  • I will include a lower fat milk and alternatives choice in bag lunches.
  • I will include a lower fat meat or alternative, such as eggs or legumes in bag lunches.
  • I will include a dark green or orange vegetable choice such as broccoli, spinach, romaine lettuce bell peppers, winter squash or carrots in bag lunches.
  • I will include plain water, milk, 100% fruit or vegetable juice in bag lunches.
  • I will take a second look at the portion sizes in bag lunches.
  • I will keep foods that do not fit into the four food groups limited to a small portion of the whole lunch.
  • I will keep the cold food cold and the hot food hot until it is time to eat.
